A unique WW2 heritage tour in the Netherlands
Where the New Land meets the Past

During the Second World War, the skies over the Netherlands were filled with aircraft. While the air war raged above, the Dutch created a new land, reclaimed from the sea.
Recovering Footsteps of Lost Airmen explores the stories left behind in this extraordinary landscape. The tour follows Allied airmen whose aircraft were lost over the former Southern Sea, the local communities who helped them, and the traces that still remain today in the reclaimed polders of the province of Flevoland.
This small-scale, full-day WW2 heritage tour combines air war history with the story of land reclamation. You will visit crash sites, memorials and historic locations, and discover how remembrance took shape in a landscape that was still largely water during the war.
A thoughtful and immersive experience where personal stories, WW2 history and the unique Dutch landscape come together.
